Logline
Childhood best friends Elka and Menucha stopped talking ever since Elka felt betrayed by Menucha for moving out of their apartment and becoming religious again. Months later, Elka finds out that Menucha is engaged. She shows up uninvited to Menucha’s Jewish bridal shower, two days before the big day, determined to stop the wedding, save Menucha from a predictable, miserable life, and win back the friendship they had before everything changed.
Synopsis
Aleeza Chanowitz grew up in Brooklyn, NY, in an observant Jewish household, and moved to Jerusalem, Israel when she was 21. She attended the Sam Spiegel Film school. Her short film "Mushkie" premiered at the Berlinale and her graduation film “Shabbos Kallah” received four international prizes. Alongside her feature film, her television series which she created and wrote for HOT is currently in post-production.

I wrote this script after my best friend got married. It felt like a small death. She's not dead, but I miss her.
