A director/writer may submit one project per JSFL edition.

The JSFL will cover the expenses of the filmmaker as detailed in JSFL/PARTICIPANTS OBLIGATIONS. A second writer may join the sessions at their own expense, and share the same room assigned to the filmmaker.

The filmmaker and co writer or co director, must participate in all three sessions (December/ January, March/ April & July). The producer must participate in the third session (July) and in one meeting at each of the first two sessions- via zoom.

The submitted project must be the first or second feature-length narrative film directed by the director/writer There is no minimum or maximum of films for the Producer, although the JSFL does look at Producers' experience as part of the feasibility of the project.

A Producer may submit two projects. Two projects by the same Producer can be selected for the same edition.

The film can speak any language, but the working script must be in English, as English is the working language of the JSFL.

A project may be submitted once more (total of two submissions) after receiving special permission from the JSFL, based on the development of the project between both submissions. In order to receive this permission, the applicant must send the JSFL a description of the major changes the project has undergone since the first submission, up to 2 weeks before the submission deadline.

Israeli projects are submitted in Hebrew. All the materials, including the script if you are selected to submit a full script, will be reviewed in Hebrew. Having said that, if the Israeli applicant prefers to apply in English, he or she may do so, after receiving a written approval from the Lab's staff.

The JSFL is open to graduates of all film schools in Israel and worldwide.

העבודה בחממה מתרכזת ב 3 אספקטים של פיתוח סדרה. פיתוח החומרים הכתובים (מיני בייבל + מתווה לפרק פיילוט), פיץ' דק גרפי, פיץ' ורבלי.

תמיכת נטפליקס כוללת את דמי ההשתתפות עבור כל משתתפי חממת סם שפיגל לסדרות. במידה וצוות הפרויקט כולל יותר מתסריטאי אחד, עלויות האירוח יהיו על צוות הפרויקט. יש לצפות לעלויות הכרוכות בתרגום הפרויקטים לאנגלית כ 3 פעמים לפני כל שבוע עבודה מתוכנן, ולטובת הפיץ' דק הגרפי.

במקרים חריגים, ובמידה ושפת הכתיבה של התסריטאי.ת אינה עברית, תתאפשר הגשת החומרים באנגלית, וזאת לאחר קבלת אישור בכתב. לקבלת אישור יש לשלוח את הבקשה ל lab@jsfs.co.il. הגשות באנגלית שלא קיבלו אישור מראש לא ישקלו.

תנאי הסף אשר מתייחסים לניסיון מקצועי מוכח בכתיבת תסריט ששודר/הוקרן או הפקת תוכן ששודר/הוקרן - מספיק שאחד מבין המגישים (מפיק.ה/ תסריטאי.ת) יעמוד בתנאי. יוצר.ת החתומ.ה על 3 יצירות או יותר כתסריטאי.ת ראשי.ת/יוצר.ת/במאי.ת- לא יוכל להגיש בשום מקרה.

פיץ' דק (pitch deck) הוא פרזנטציה ויזואלית המשלבת טקסט ודימויים אשר מציגים בצורה הטובה ביותר את הסדרה המוצעת לשותפים/משקיעים פוטנציאליים. במהלך החממה המשתתפים יעברו תהליך בניית פיץ׳ דק עם מעצבים גרפיים מנוסים בכך.

חממת סם שפיגל לסדרות שואפת להביא למסך הטלוויזיוני סיפורים מקומיים המתארים את חווית החיים הישראלית המגוונת מתוך אמונה כי סיפור מקומי, אותנטי, וייחודי הוא פוטנציאל הדהוד בזירה הבינלאומית.

החממה מעמידה לרשות משתתפים מעוטי יכולת מלגה לתרגום החומרים, בשלב ההגשה. בנושא זה כל מקרה יבחן לגופו לאחר הגשת בקשה למייל lab@jsfs.co.il.

לא. ההגשה לחממת סם שפיגל לסדרות פתוחה לכל יוצר.ת מקומי אשר עומד.ת בתנאי הסף. לא תינתן עדיפות לבוגרי בית הספר סם שפיגל או חממת הקולנוע.

שני התסריטאים צריכים לעמוד בתנאי שזוהי להם סדרה ראשונה או שניה כיוצרים/תסריטאים ראשיים/במאים. מבחינת ניסיון קודם, מספיק שאחד התסריטאים בעל ניסיון מוכח בכתיבת תסריט ו/או תסריטים ליצירות עלילתיות או דוקומנטריות אשר הוקרנו בקולנוע/בפסטיבל בינלאומי מהדרג הראשון/שודרו בידי ערוץ טלוויזיה בר קיימא, באורך מצטבר העולה על 30 דקות.

לא. על אחד מהשניים תסריטאי / מפיק לעמוד בתנאי הסף הקשורים בשידור היצירה כפי שמפורט בתקנון.

תסריטאי.ת רשאי.ת להגיש פרויקט אחד בלבד. מפיק.ה רשאי.ת להגיש עד שני פרוייקטים.

Both screenwriters must meet the condition that this is their first or second series as creators/screenwriters/directors. In terms of previous experience, it is sufficient that one of the screenwriters has proven experience in writing a script and/or scripts for narrative or documentary films that have been screened in the cinema/leading international film festival/broadcast by a sustainable television channel, for a total length of more than 30 minutes.

No. One of the two screenwriters/producers must meet the preconditions associated with the broadcast of the work as specified in the regulations.

The eligibility criteria relating to proven professional experience in writing/producing a script that has been broadcast/screened is sufficient for one of the presenters to meet the conditions. Under no circumstances can a screenwriter who has helmed three works or more as a lead screenwriter/creator/director be allowed to submit.

No. Will not be considered: formats, game shows, children and youth series.

The work focuses on three key aspects. Development of the written materials (mini bible + outline for a pilot episode), graphic pitch pitch, verbal pitch.

The Lab provides select low-income applicants with a stipend to translate the materials at the submission stage. In this matter, each case will be examined on its own merits after applying lab@jsfs.co.il.

No. Submission to the Series Lab is subject to an agreement with an active producer with proven professional experience.

Pitch deck is a visual presentation that combines text and images presented to potential partners/investors. During the Lab, participants will build a pitch deck with experienced graphic designers.

The Sam Spiegel Series Lab aims to bring to the screen the diverse stories of our region. We believe the most local, specific, authentic stories and voices can resonate internationally, regardless of language and culture differences.

Generally the materials submitted to the Lab should be in Hebrew. In exceptional cases, and if the scriptwriter's working language is not Hebrew, it could be permitted to submit materials in English after obtaining written approval for this. For approval, send the request to lab@jsfs.co.il. Submissions in English that have not been approved in advance will not be accepted.

No. The copyright will remain in the hands of the authors and / or the teams.

A screenwriter can submit only one project. The producer can submit up to two projects.

Netflix will cover the participation fee for projects. If the project team includes more than one screenwriter, the project team will bear the costs of travel and hospitality in Jerusalem during the sessions. However, please expect the costs involved in translating projects into English about three times before each planned session and the graphic pitch process.

No. The Sam Spiegel Series Lab application is open to any local creator who meets the eligibility criteria. Priority will not be given to Sam Spiegel School graduates.
